These are the terms for using the Zupzi Math app for iPhone and iPad (coming soon to the App Store). We kept them short and plain, because a parent should be able to read them. Zupzi Math is published by Leonardo Mennela de Jesus Franco, an individual developer in the United States (“Zupzi”, “we”, “us”).
Accepting these terms
By creating a Zupzi account or using Zupzi Math, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Who can hold an account
You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of every child you add. The account is yours; child profiles exist only inside it and are managed by you. Children do not agree to these terms; you do, on their behalf.
What Zupzi Math is
Zupzi Math is a math game for children from kindergarten through grade 5. Lilo, a friendly Numbling, guides your child across a map of islands: a short placement quiz picks where to start, and the game adjusts as your child practices. For grown-ups, the app shows, on a grown-up’s device, what each child has learned on that device, can send a progress report by e-mail, and can pay Zupzi Stars for new things learned. The game itself works without the internet.
Your account and your family
- Zupzi Math uses the same Zupzi account and the same family as Zupzi Play and Zupzi Art. Your children’s profiles, portraits and PINs are shared by every Zupzi app, and each family can have the same number of children as in Zupzi Play.
- Each Zupzi app asks for your consent for each child on its own. Until you agree in Zupzi Math, your child can play, but the Learning Stars and the progress report wait.
- Deleting your account in Zupzi Math deletes your Zupzi account for every Zupzi app. If you are the only grown-up in the family, the family, your children’s profiles and everything our servers hold for them are deleted too.
- Keep your sign-in to yourself, and keep each child’s PIN between you and that child.
Your responsibilities as a parent
- Only add children you are responsible for, and give accurate information about them.
- Decide how and when your child plays. The Grown-ups area asks for Face ID or your device passcode, and on a paired device your child opens their profile with their PIN, but these are not a substitute for a grown-up nearby.
- Pair only devices your family controls, and turn off any device you no longer trust.
- Only upload portrait photos that are yours to share with us.
Acceptable use
Please do not:
- try to break into other families’ data, overload our servers, automate requests, or copy or reverse-engineer the service;
- tamper with the game or its messages to earn Stars that were not earned by playing;
- use the app in a way that breaks the law or someone else’s rights.
We may refuse a request, and we may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules or puts a child or the service at risk.
Stars, coins and medals
- Learning Stars are Zupzi Stars. They go to your child’s Zupzi Stars balance, the same one Zupzi Play uses for the rewards you set up there. Each achievement pays once, and our server decides what counts and how much it is worth. You can switch to Medals only at any time; switching back pays what is earned from then on, not the past.
- Coins, medals and Numbling friends are earned by playing and live inside the game.
- Stars, coins and medals have no cash value, cannot be bought with money and cannot be exchanged for it. Real-world rewards are agreed and delivered between you and your child; Zupzi takes no part in them.
About the progress report
The progress report, on the screen and by e-mail, comes from what the game measured while your child played: skills practiced and mastered, time, and answers right on the first try. It is a helpful picture, not a school grade or a formal assessment. Skills are organized by grade and matched to the U.S. Common Core standards, and the placement quiz only picks where the game starts. Zupzi Math is practice at home, not a replacement for school or a teacher; if you have questions about your child’s learning, talk with their teacher.
No ads, nothing for sale in the app
Zupzi Math has no ads, and there is nothing for sale inside the app. If we ever offer paid features, we will tell you clearly before anything costs money, and your child’s progress will not be locked or deleted because of it.
Apple
The app is licensed to you under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms add to it; where they conflict about the license to use the app, Apple’s agreement controls. Apple is not responsible for Zupzi Math or its support; we are.
Ending things
You can stop using Zupzi Math at any time. You can delete your account in the app: Grown-ups, then Delete account under Account. It cannot be undone. If we suspend or close an account, we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
Availability and liability
We work to keep Zupzi Math running, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”: our servers can be down, Stars and reports can arrive late, and features can change. The game itself keeps working on the device. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the loss of progress stored on your devices. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by e-mail before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Zupzi Math after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, you can delete your account.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, where Zupzi is operated. If you live in Brazil, Brazilian law and the consumer protections of the Código de Defesa do Consumidor also apply to you, and nothing here takes them away. Wherever you live, you keep the consumer rights the law gives you.
