Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what the Zupzi Math app for iPhone and iPad (coming soon to the App Store) collects, what stays on your device, what goes to our servers and for how long, and how you delete it. It is written for the parent or legal guardian who holds the account.

Who we are

Zupzi Math is made by Zupzi, the same team behind the Zupzi Play and Zupzi Art apps (“Zupzi”, “we”, “us”). Zupzi is operated in the United States by Leonardo Mennela de Jesus Franco, an individual developer, who is responsible for your information under this policy. You can reach a person at support@zupzi.io.

The short version

• The game lives on the device. Every lesson, picture and voice clip is inside the app. The game works without the internet, cannot open websites, and saves your child’s full progress on the device.
• Only a summary of the math goes to Zupzi, and only after you agree. With your consent for Zupzi Math, the game sends our server a summary of your child’s progress (skills, the placement quiz, medals and minutes played) for your progress report, and the Learning Stars your child earns. It never sends your child’s name or their individual answers.
• You choose the e-mails. The progress report arrives by e-mail on days your children play, and you can turn it off in the app at any time.
• No ads, no tracking, nothing sold. The app has no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking software, and no advertising identifiers. It never uses the microphone, the camera or your location. We never sell or rent personal information.

What we collect

Your Zupzi account

Zupzi Math uses the same Zupzi account as Zupzi Play and Zupzi Art. You sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an e-mail address and password. We receive:

• Your e-mail address (with Sign in with Apple, this can be Apple’s private relay address).
• Your name, if Apple or Google shares it when you first sign in, or if you gave one in another Zupzi app.
• An account ID that our sign-in system creates for you.

We use these to run your account, keep your family together, answer you when you write to us, and send the progress e-mails described below.

Your family and your children’s profiles

Your Zupzi family is shared between Zupzi Math, Zupzi Play and Zupzi Art: the same children appear in every app. When you create a family or add a child in Zupzi Math, the following is sent to our server and kept with your family:

• the family name and your name, if your account has one;
• each child’s first name or nickname;
• each child’s birthday, only if you add it. Zupzi Math uses it to pick the grade where the placement quiz starts; you can skip it;
• each child’s portrait: either a picture from our built-in gallery, or a photo you choose. For a photo, the app sends a small square copy (at most 512 pixels on a side), only when you confirm, and it is kept in private storage that only your family can reach;
• a four-digit PIN the child uses to open their own profile on their own device. We do not store the digits, only a salted, one-way hash;
• the date and time you confirmed you are the child’s parent or legal guardian and agreed to this policy for Zupzi Math;
• the devices you paired for your children (in your list they are labeled “Zupzi Math Tutor”), so you can turn any of them off later.

A copy of your family list (names and portraits, and on a child’s paired device the check for each PIN) is also kept in the app on the device, so the game opens without the internet.

Your child’s math progress

This only happens for a child you have agreed for in Zupzi Math (see Children’s privacy below). Until then, the app does not ask our server for anything on that child’s behalf: your child can play, and the progress stays on the device.

With your consent, when your child finishes a visit to an island, finishes the placement quiz, or leaves the game, the game sends our server a summary of their progress:

• for each math skill: its level, how many problems were seen and answered right, when it was mastered and when it is due for review;
• the result of the placement quiz and the grade where the game starts;
• how many times they played, their coins and the best medal on each island;
• a short diary of their last 60 visits: when, which island, how many seconds, how many problems were answered and how many were right on the first try, whether they finished, and the skills mastered there.

The summary never includes your child’s name or the answers they gave: our server knows which child it belongs to from a short-lived ticket that the app requests for that child. We keep only the latest summary for each child (each new one replaces the one before), and we use it only to prepare your family’s progress report.

Learning Stars

Zupzi Math can pay Zupzi Stars once for each new thing your child learns: the placement quiz, a first medal on an island, a skill mastered. With your consent for that child, the game reports each achievement to our server by its ID (never by your child’s name). Our server records the Stars in your child’s Zupzi Stars balance, the same balance Zupzi Play uses, and never pays the same achievement twice. If you choose Medals only in the Learning Stars setting, our server records nothing.

The progress e-mails

Unless you turn them off, we e-mail the grown-ups in your family a short progress report: once a day on days a child played (in the evening, in your family’s time zone as set in Zupzi Play), a weekly report on Sundays and a monthly one on the 1st (each in place of that day’s daily note). It shows each child’s first name, minutes practiced, visits, problems answered and how many were right on the first try, skills mastered, skills that could use a hand, reviews due, the grade from the placement quiz and, in the weekly and monthly reports, progress on each island. It is sent only to the grown-ups in your family, and only when a child played in that period. We keep only the date the last report of each kind was sent.

To stop the e-mails, open Grown-ups in Zupzi Math and set Math report by email to Off. The setting is shared by your whole family. Turning off the e-mails does not stop the summary described above; to stop it, see Your rights as a parent below.

Messages you send us

If you use Report a problem in the app (in Grown-ups, under Account), we receive what you write, your account’s e-mail address (so we can reply), the app version, the iOS or iPadOS version and whether it is an iPhone or an iPad, plus your family’s internal ID. It never includes your children’s names or IDs. The message is delivered to our support inbox by e-mail and is used only to answer you and fix problems. If you e-mail support@zupzi.io directly, we receive whatever you choose to include.

What stays on your device

These things stay in the app on your iPhone or iPad. We never receive them.

• The game itself: lessons, pictures and the narrator’s voice are shipped inside the app. The game does not load anything from the internet, cannot open websites, and talks only to our server, only for the summary and the Learning Stars described above.
• Your child’s full progress: each skill’s history (including which recent answers were right), coins, medals, the Numbling friends they hatch and the diary of their visits. Only the summary described above ever leaves the device. The app also keeps its own copy of this progress on the device, so it is not lost. Like any app’s data, it is part of your device’s own backups (iCloud Backup or your computer), which Zupzi cannot read.
• The Progress screen in Grown-ups is built on the device, from the progress saved on that device. It is only on a device where a grown-up is signed in. A child’s own paired device has no Progress screen, so play there reaches you only through the e-mail report.
• A request to retake the placement quiz stays on the device where you made it, until your child next opens the game there.
• Face ID or your device passcode, used so only a grown-up can open the Grown-ups area, are checked by iOS. The app never sees your face data or passcode.
• Your child’s PIN is checked on their paired device, against the one-way check described above.
• Your sign-in is kept in the device’s Keychain, on that device only.
• Choosing a portrait photo uses Apple’s photo picker. The app sees only the one photo you pick, and never your photo library.

Zupzi Math does not use the microphone, the camera, your contacts or your location, and it does not send notifications. The narrator’s voice is made of recordings created before release, on computers we operate, and shipped inside the app. No user data is used to make them.

Children’s privacy

Zupzi Math is used by families with children in kindergarten through grade 5, including children under 13. We follow the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and article 14 of Brazil’s LGPD.

• Children never create an account. The account holder is a parent or legal guardian, who must be at least 18.
• Only a parent or guardian creates a child profile. When you add a child, you set the child’s PIN and confirm that you are the child’s parent or legal guardian and agree to this policy for the information Zupzi Math keeps about that child. We record when you agreed.
• Each Zupzi app asks for its own consent. Agreeing in Zupzi Play or Zupzi Art does not count for Zupzi Math, or the other way around. If your child’s profile was created in another Zupzi app, Zupzi Math asks you once, on the child’s card in Grown-ups. Until you agree, your child can play, and nothing about them is sent to our servers by Zupzi Math: the Learning Stars and the progress report wait for your yes.
• What we hold about a child is listed above: first name or nickname, optional birthday, portrait, PIN hash, the progress summary and the Learning Stars.
• A child’s own device is connected only with a six-digit code that a grown-up creates in a Zupzi app. On that device the child picks their profile and types their PIN, which is checked on the device.
• No ads, no chat, no links out. Children cannot message anyone or see anyone else through Zupzi Math, and the game cannot open websites.
• Your rights as a parent. You can see your child’s profile and progress in the app, and you can change or delete the profile and withdraw consent at any time by removing the child or by deleting your account. Zupzi Math uses the profiles from your Zupzi family: to change or remove a child, open Zupzi Play, go to Family, tap the child and choose Remove, or write to us. Removing a child deletes their profile, PIN, portrait, Stars and Zupzi Math progress summary from our servers, for every Zupzi app. You can also ask us, at support@zupzi.io, to review your child’s information, to delete the Zupzi Math progress we hold for them, or to withdraw your Zupzi Math consent while keeping them in Zupzi Play.

How long we keep things, and how to delete them

Deleting your account

In the app, open Grown-ups, then under Account tap Delete account. The app asks you to type a word to confirm, then Delete everything. Because the account is shared with Zupzi Play and Zupzi Art:

• your Zupzi sign-in is deleted for every Zupzi app; if you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to revoke Zupzi’s access;
• if you are the only grown-up in your family, the family is deleted too, with your children’s profiles, portrait photos, Stars and Zupzi Math progress summaries, and your Zupzi Play data; if another grown-up shares the family, only your own sign-in is removed;
• on the device where you delete it, Zupzi Math forgets your family and the math progress saved there. Progress saved on other devices, such as a child’s iPad, stays there until you delete the app on that device.

Deleting the account cannot be undone. Deleting the app removes what it saved on that device.

Who processes data for us

These companies store or move data on our behalf, under their own security commitments. None of them may use it for anything else.

Our e-mail provider keeps its own delivery records under its terms. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

Security

Everything travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). The game never sees your sign-in: it only gets a ticket that our server signs for one child and one game, and that expires after four hours. Portrait photos sit in private storage behind short-lived links. PINs are stored only as one-way hashes. Your sign-in is kept in the device’s Keychain. A child’s paired device holds its own credential that you can turn off. No system is perfect; if we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.

International users

Zupzi is operated in the United States. If you use Zupzi Math from another country, the information described here is transferred to the United States to be processed. Residents of Brazil have the rights of the LGPD (access, correction, portability, deletion, and information about sharing) and may contact the ANPD. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have the equivalent GDPR rights and may contact their supervisory authority. To use any of these rights, write to support@zupzi.io.

This website

This website, math.zupzi.io, describes the app. It has no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics or tracking cookies. Its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and the App Store badge on the Zupzi apps page is loaded from Apple, so your browser also contacts Google (and, on that page, Apple) when a page opens. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs to run and protect the site.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters to you, we will tell you in the app or by e-mail before the change takes effect. The date at the top is always the current version.
